The Wedge – Newport Beach
I was down at the Wedge in Newport Beach today.
Every time a set would roll through, everyone on the beach would go nuts.
The sets were in the 15 foot range and only a few bodysurfers were brave enough to take on the surf. The lifeguards were busy all day patrolling the beach and cautioning beach goers to stay out of the water.
Even local news channels such as Channel 4 & 7 showed up to get a piece of the action.
Sufficient to say parking was a challenge.
Super Early Surf Sessions
Often called Dawn Patrol – super early surf sessions during summer are my favorite. By super early – I mean before the sun has come up. And in the water surfing right as the sun is coming up. Walking down to the beach is the best part. Cold and quiet is often how people describe the walk down. Last but not least, you can often find a peak to surf by yourself or with a few friends. Due to the fact that few people want to wake up and surf that early.
Smashball
Looking for a classic game to play when the surf goes absolutly flat and you get stuck at the beach with some friends or family. Smashball is the perfect game. Stay active and have fun hitting the ball back and forth with your friends.
Try to beat your record of continuous hits or try to hit your friend as hard as you can.
No matter how you play you will have fun with Smashball.

USA Surfing Championships 2010 – Lowers
Take the Best 18 and under Surfers and put them in a competitive contest, surfing one of the best waves around and what do you get?
The USA Surf Championships at Trestles in Orange County, CA.
The biggest event of the year -
the finale of finales.
Some of the most innovative
and progressive surfers
hit the water to get their chance at a Title.
With surfers like Kolohe Andino and Evan Geiselman competing things were guaranteed to be competitive. Nothing summed this up better than the 18u Mens final on Monday afternoon when Kolohe and Evan exchanged waves pulling their best tricks and maneuvers.
The weather was cold,
the wind was blowing,
but the surfers were still able to pull together some great rides.
Here are just a few pictures that I took while watching the event.
Choosing Board Shorts
There are alot of factors that can help you choose the right pair of board shorts. The biggest being how much money you want to spend. Hurley has a pair for $200. While around $55 will get you a decent pair. The biggest difference between a $200 pair and a $50 pair is the materials used and the stretch in the materials. Another thing you must consider is the style of trunks you want. Do you want a short retro cut or longer trunks which cater to longboards. Also you must decide whether you want a plain or crazy design on your trunks. Your best bet when looking for a pair of board shorts is to head down to your local surf shop.

Put your Spare Change to use
Alot of times you will get spare change throughout out the day from various purchases.
Most of the time you throw it in your car or pants pocket and never see it again. One thing I do is keep a small bag in my car.
Whenever I get change I put it in this bag. Then when I go surfing I have money for parking and food afterwards.
