Surf Spot: Mavericks

Mavericks is located in beautiful northern California. This popular big wave spot was unknown until 1990 when the surf magazines started publishing articles on it. Now it is one of the most famous big wave spots in the world. The spot rests in half moon bay which offers cold and shark infested waters to surfers. One wrong move can kill you at Mavericks with large rocks and long hold downs. Mark Foo learned this the hard way in 1994 when he fell to his death on a 15 foot wave. Mavericks is definitely not for the weak.
