Buying Used Surfboards

Are you looking for an used surfboard, but don’t want to buy one from an over priced surf shop?

Why not buy one from craigslist. If you know what to look for you can get a great deal especially if you are good at negotiating prices.
Things to look for:
1. Brand- if you are paying over $150 make sure the board is a brand name
2. Does the board look new?
3. Does it look like the owner trashed the board
4. Look for any brown spots on the board- it could be water logged
5. Be careful of paint jobs on top of the glass- it could be hiding something
Some questions to ask:
1. How old is the board?
2. how many times has it been ridden?
3. Has the board ever broken in half or by the nose?
4. Who is the shaper ?- then you can go online and see how much a new board would cost…
5. Why are you selling it?
6. Are you the first owner?
7. Any major dings?
8. Is the paint job under the glass?
9. What conditions did you ride the board in? how did it perform?
10. When you get there always ask for a discount sometimes people will drop $50 if you could pick it up today, wax, a leash, anything else that you can get for free.
