As surfers we have a love/hate relationship with Costco Wavestorm Surfboards. Some more than others. Shapers such as Tim Bessell are strongly against them as they were brought up on a recent episode of Down the Line Surf Talk Radio. Others like Jamie O'Brien love them, especially when surfing Pipeline on the North Shore of Oahu.
While I don't keep one in my quiver I have plenty of friends that do. This works well as I usually just borrow one of theirs when the surf is small and fickle. They paddle amazingly fast and make any sort of turn rather impossible. Fins first takeoffs make riding the Costco Wavestorm more exciting and will likely confuse fellow surfers, making them think you really are a kook. Did I mention it is hard enough getting respect paddling out of one of these the right way?
