Lower Trestles isn't always perfect. It isn't always easy to surf. It isn't even predictable. And we were reminded of this as Day 2 concluded yesterday afternoon. The wind, swell and tides have all created some challenging surf conditions within individual heats.
But that doesn't mean we haven't seen some amazing surfing. Kelly Slater is always a crowd favorite and continues to demonstrate his unique understanding of this wave. Taj Burrow landed an amazing aerial maneuver that stoked out all the photographers on the beach. While surfing what many would consider an amazing heat, Kolohe Andino unfortunately lost in the second round to Heitor Alves which caused some judging controversy.
Looking ahead, a nice swell is on the forecast and with the winds staying light and variable throughout the afternoon we should be able to run full days on surfing if the decision is made.
