Being
a professional surfer sounds like the ideal job to groms around the world who
love to surf on a daily basis. It sounds even more appealing to college kids
who are sitting in class learning math which they will never use in their
entire lives, expect for at the sale rack at Nordstrom.
But
is being a professional surfer all that it is built up to be or is it
overhyped? The answer is yes and no. Sure it’s a great job, you get paid to
travel the world and surf where ever you go. But you also have to do
interviews, photoshoots, fitness regiments, surf training and keep your
sponsors happy. In addition, you are expected to perform and wow people at
every event no matter how good the waves are or if you are not feeling good.
