Its been the debate for many years and has only been brought to the forefront since Craigslist became so popular. All surfers love the feeling of walking into a surf shop and buying a new board off the rack. Or even better; going to your local shaper and ordering a custom board.
On the flipside, many surfers are very frugal and are always looking to save money. This can often be done by buying slightly used surfboards at a big discount through Craigslist or a similar venue. The downside is that surfboard shapers ovbiosuly have less business as more people buy used boards or head down to their local Costco warehouse.
