This week the ASP World Tour rolled into San Clemente to setup for the 6th stop on the tour. The surfers saw less than perfect lowers with small swells and long lulls. The conditions proved difficult to concur for many surfers, however some surfers excelled.
Slater had his usual crazy boards, which have started to become his trade mark. One board he rode featured carbon-fiber strips which acted like a stringer. Rob Machado took down Taj Burrow in round 2 by .16 points. That was one of the standout heats which came with a win from the under dog Rob Machado.
In round 3 Kelly Slater took down Huntington Beach local Brett Simpson who got into the contest because he won the Hurley US Open. Hurley decided to run a full day of heats on Saturday with the hope of catching the swell which rolled in today and finishing the contest.
But the winner of the Hurley Pro and $105,000 is Mick Fanning who took down Kelly Slater in the Semi's and Dane Reynolds in the Final.
